First: a little background. As you may be aware, no one really knows who Elena Ferrante is. Or, to clarify — we know she’s the author of the beloved and bestselling Neopolitan novels, but until recently, all we knew about her as a person was her pen name, Elena Ferrante. Her identity was a closely-held secret.
All that changed, sort of, when an Italian reporter decided to investigate. In an attempt to blow open the anonymity Ferrante had so carefully cultivated, a man named Claudio Gatti went digging and came up with what he believes is Ferrante’s true identity. For reference:

Like a lot of readers, many of our booksellers felt Ferrante ought to have been left alone. (All she wanted was some privacy — is that so wrong??) So we’ve decided it’s our duty to throw the bloodhounds off the trail. Like this:
Thus, our Halloween costume was born.
Feel free to borrow the costume. All you need is a book, name tags (optional), and the confidence to say, I AM ELENA FERRANTE.
