Indie Bookstore Day: The Holiday for Book Lovers!

This Saturday, May 2, we’re partying all day and into the night to celebrate YOU! (You wouldn’t miss your own party, would you?) It’s the official national holiday for books, readers, and indie bookshops, and we’re cramming the day full of fun: snacks, activities, freebies, collector’s items and exclusive merchandise, author appearances, and more. Here’s the lowdown:

  • static1.squarespace-13This snazzy tote bag featuring art by the amazing Roz Chast, author of Can’t We Talk About Something More Pleasant — yours FREE with any purchase of $50 or more! (You didn’t think your party would come without presents?)
  • Family-friendly crafts and activities for readers of all ages, all day long, plus our regularly scheduled storytime at 10:30 a.m.
  • Happy hour from 6-8 p.m., with drinks, readings, and general merriment. Could there be a better way to kick off Saturday night than a glass of wine in your neighborhood bookstore?
  • Special literary merchandise produced especially for Independent Bookstore Day and including collector’s edition items (many of them signed) from authors including Stephen King, Allie Brosh, Roxane Gay, Margaret Atwood and MORE! We’ll have just a limited number of these items on hand, and once they’re gone, they’re gone — so if you want them, come see us early on Saturday.

Now, lean in close, and take a look… Here’s some of what you can get ONLY on #IndieBookstoreDay and only from your indie bookstore. Click any image to see it larger:

It’s your party, and we’ll go nuts if we want to. There’s only one thing you need to do (other than show up, of course): Invite your friends! In fact, to make it easy, why not let one of these authors invite them? Here are a few of our writer friends, sharing why they love indie bookstores. You’ll find these awesome author quotes plus many more on our Instagram and Tumblr, too — so spread the word!

See you at your party!
