Your Thanksgiving Week Checklist (#1: Get Your Bird)

Posted on Updated on

No, not your turkey — your Goldfinch. As you may recall, Donna Tartt chose to launch her Pulitzer Prize winning novel The Goldfinch right here in Nashville. Now, as a holiday bonus for friends and supporters of Parnassus Books, Tartt has graciously offered to sign a stack of books for our customers. No fighting the shopping mall crowds, no waking at dawn to get a “while supplies last” deal. Just let us know you want one, and we’ll take care of the rest.

Get your beautiful autographed hardcover copy by placing your order here and writing “SIGNED” in the notes section at checkout. We will have your signed books ready after Thanksgiving and will notify you of shipment as soon as they are available. You don’t have to give it another thought. We’ll send your books to your door, and you’ll have them in time to give as holiday gifts!

Come Shop with Authors!

You know the Saturday after Thanksgiving is Small Business Saturday, but did you know about Indies First Small Business Saturday? Shop small, shop local, shop indie — and shop right alongside your favorite writers. Saturday, 11/29, our booksellers will be joined by a team of authors from right here in Nashville who are volunteering to help customers find something great to read or give. See who’ll be working with us that day, and in indie bookstores across the country, on this map.

Here at Parnassus, we’ll have these authors in the store as personal shoppers — in addition to Ann Patchett, of course:

10 a.m. — Ruta Sepetys, Courtney C. Stevens, Jessica Young, Jules Danielson, Tony Earley

11 a.m. — TJ Jarrett, Kim Teter, DG Driver

12 noon — Tracy Barrett, Jeff High, Rae Ann Parker

1 p.m. — Ariel Lawhon, JT Ellison, Paige Crutcher

Reward Yourself for All That Shopping… You Could Get 3 FREE Signed YA First Editions!

What books are coming up next for the YA Signed First Editions Club? If you love the element of surprise, membership is for YOU.

Great news, fans of young adult literature: Due to the tremendous success of our Young Adult Signed First Editions Club and the overwhelming volume of excellent YA books being written, the frequency of deliveries has increased from every other month to monthly. That means every member of the YA Signed First Editions Club will receive a new, autographed first edition of a selected book EVERY MONTH. Tastier than casserole of the month! Far less likely to attract flies than fruit of the month! And unlike that cosmetics-of-the-month box, you won’t be left with a bunch of stuff you’ll never wear. Great fiction looks good on everyone.

From now until 6 p.m. CST on December 24, everyone who signs up to join our YA Signed First Editions Club, plus all existing members, will have their names put into a hat for a drawing to receive a FREE three-month extension of their membership. That’s THREE FREE AUTOGRAPHED books. Gift memberships are also eligible, so this is a great time to give a lucky YA fan the ongoing gift of the latest great reads. (Winners of the subscription extensions will be notified and announced by January 2.)
